14:10

This panel will begin to look at the mechanics of verifying artistic research – how we internally peer review research outputs within our institutions. The goal here is to find areas of best practice, and to find approaches that can support universities nation-wide. Do we want to, and how can we, streamline processes nationally?

Doctoral candidates have a minimum 3 years to deeply investigate an artistic research project. This provides an ideal platform for innovation and experimentation. How are we tracking these outcomes, collaborating with our candidates, and learning from this laboratory of exploration? What could best practice interface between candidates and supervisors look like in an artistic project? Or industry and candidates?

There are many international organisations and networks working on the issue of artistic research, and many leading Australian academics play a role in these conversations. Could we flip the conversation and see how Australia could be the leading in artistic research? Could we host the next international conference, start a peer-reviewed journal, set the standard for creative PhD submissions, become the international benchmark of best practice?
